McDaniel College's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement

Unanimously approved by the Board of Trustees in August 2020, McDaniel College's DEI Statement highlights the college's commitment to break down the walls of division, reject acts of exclusion, and challenge injustice, prejudice, and ethnocentrism. Living up to this commitment requires consistent, measurable action across the college.

"Our community is fully committed to breaking down the walls of division, rejecting acts of exclusion, and challenging injustice, prejudice, and ethnocentrism... Action and accountability lead to creating a better world through social change locally and globally. We strive to cultivate the skills needed to become competent, productive leaders and allies in a pluralistic and diverse world." - Excerpt from the McDaniel College Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement. About the DEI Dashboard

With the goal of informing and educating, the DEI Initiatives Dashboard serves as a place where annual DEI-related goals are communicated and progress is tracked. Increasing both accountability and visibility, community members can see the cross-divisional nature of the college's DEI work.

The Initiatives Dashboard is updated three times per year:
In September, with the new goals for the academic year;
In January, with progress made towards goals in the first semester;
In May, with progress made towards goals over the entire academic year.

Ongoing recommendations have components that are complete, but require continual sustained coordination for long-term success.

All DEI Initiatives for the college are overseen by the Associate Provost for Equity and Belonging. The Dashboard is managed by the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Questions or comments may be directed to odei@mcdaniel.edu.
