Strengthening Accountability & Inclusion in McDaniel College Archives

New considerations related to archival material in the library “seek to address disparities across all underrepresented and underserved populations."

The recommendations include both internal institutional goals and external outreach initiatives in the hopes that, together, they may create sustainable change and a new, more inclusive paradigm for archival practice.

Graduate and Professional Studies Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Workgroup

GPS has developed a Graduate and Professional Studies Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Workgroup. The Dean's charge to the committee is as follows:

The charge of the GPS Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee is to plan and implement strategies and action plans which assure that GPS is meeting our responsibility as a division of the McDaniel community to support and promote DEI efforts. Additionally, the committee should identify GPS specific strategies which intentionally foster and sustain an actively anti-racist and anti-discrimination culture, providing a welcoming and enriching environment for all. The following areas should be addressed as part of the action plan:

  1. Admissions and recruitment strategies which assure a diverse student body

  1. Program curriculum in all GPS programs which prepares our students to become anti-racist professionals in their fields who lead change

  1. Hiring practices which assure a diverse faculty and staff

  1. Panning activities and events which promote and celebrate diversity

  1. Collaborate with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion to plan GPS specific educational opportunities for faculty, staff and students
