Congratulations on your decision to attend McDaniel College!
Before you arrive on The Hill...there are some important steps you need to take. Your admissions portal contains all the information you need to assist you through the process of becoming a Green Terror. There are a number of essential “to do’s” before you arrive on campus. Each step has a deadline and we want to help keep you on track.
To complete the enrollment checklist items, students should visit their Admissions Portal and sign in with the email and password they've used throughout the admissions process.
Enrollment Forms
Activate McDaniel Student Account - 5 mins
- Deadline:
- All Students: ASAP
Activate your McDaniel student account as soon as possible so you can start completing your new student checklist.
Register for McDaniel Local - 5 mins
- Deadlines:
- If you deposited on or before May 1: Deadline is June 1.
- If you deposited after May 1: Deadline is July 1
Complete Health Insurance Waiver - 5 mins
- Deadline:
- All Students: July 1
If you have your own comparable health insurance coverage, waiving the McDaniel health insurance is easy! Waive the McDaniel Health Insurance by July 1 to avoid the charge on your first semester bill. Checklists will be updated beginning in early June.
Submit Required Health Forms - 10 mins
Deadline:
All Students: July 1
To maintain a healthy campus community and comply with state law, all full-time undergraduate students must complete the pre-entrance health requirements, including the Pre-Entrance Student Health Form and proof of required immunizations. Students who have outstanding health requirements will not be permitted to move in, participate in orientation activities, athletic practices or competitions, or attend classes. A $500 late fee will be added to bills on August 15 if health requirements are not complete.
Submit Your Final Official High School Transcript (First-year students only)
Your final high school transcript should be sent to the admissions office once you have graduated. Your final high school transcript should include your high school graduation date and is required in order for McDaniel to disburse any federal and state aid.
Housing
Submit Housing and Roommate Matching Application (Residential students only) - 20 mins
- Deadlines:
- If you deposited on or before May 1: Deadline is June 1.
- If you deposited after May 1: Deadline is July 1
Class Registration
Complete Placement Exams - 180 mins
- Deadlines:
- If you deposited on or before May 1: Deadline is June 1.
- If you deposited after May 1: Deadline is July 1
Submit Your First Year Seminar Preferences (First-year students only) - 20 mins
- Deadlines:
- If you deposited on or before May 1: Deadline is June 1.
- If you deposited after May 1: Deadline is July 1
Visit the First-Year Seminar page to review the descriptions of our available Seminar courses, then complete the First Year Seminar Rating Form so our advisors can match you with a seminar of interest.
Student Finances
Finalize Financial Aid - 15 mins
- Deadline:
- All Students: July 1
- Login to Financial Aid Self-Service via the MyMcDaniel Portal to be sure that you’ve completed all required financial aid items, including signing your offer letter, completing the promissory note and entrance counseling, and accepting any remaining aid that is pending.
Pay Fall Semester Bill - 15 mins
- Deadline:
- All Students: August 1
- Be sure your fall semester bill is paid by August 1 or that you've enrolled in a payment plan. Students who have not paid their bill or have an up-to-date payment plan will not be permitted to move in or participate in classes, Orientation programming, and athletic practices or competitions.
Optional Items
Register for SASS Accommodations - 10 minutes
- Deadline:
- Students with a Documented Disability: June 15
- Student Accessibility & Support Services (SASS) assists all students with documented disabilities. The SASS Office works with each student on a case-by-case basis to determine and implement appropriate accommodations based on individual needs.
Account Access for Parents and Families - 10 mins
You can grant permission to a parent, guardian, spouse, or other trusted individual to access limited billing account information online as an authorized user.

New Student Orientation
- Mark your Calendars: Aug. 22 - 25, 2024
- Designed to engage and excite you about McDaniel, New Student Orientation is filled with activities and events to acclimate you to your new college community.
- Led by a team of enthusiastic peer mentors, you will attend workshops, team-building exercises, Introduction Convocation, and a walk down Main Street to meet more of the off-campus community.
First Year Seminar
One of the signature elements of the McDaniel Plan, your First Year Seminar will challenge and excite you.
First Year Seminars are innovative topical and thematic courses that provide an introduction to the liberal arts and an academic transition to college.
