McDANIEL COLLEGE STUDENTS PERFORM IN THE STUDENT AFRICAN PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE

Student African Percussion Ensemble performance is Thursday, Nov. 30, 7 p.m., in Decker Center Forum at McDaniel College 

WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel College students perform in the Student African Percussion Ensemble on Thursday, Nov. 30, 7 p.m. The performance, which is free and open to the public, takes place in Decker Center Forum at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Md. 

This is the premiere performance of the group, which is under the direction of McDaniel music faculty member Pape Demba “Paco” Samb, a Senegalese griot. Students include Libby Bowles of Gaithersburg, Md., Christina DeJoseph of Palmyra N.J., Sarah Edmonds of Quakertown, Pa., Wolfgang Kahan of Mount Airy, Md., Dylan Knoll of Bowie, Md., Andrea Magallanes of Silver Spring Md., Annie Marshall of Ijamsville, Md., Denis Montero de Jesus of Baltimore, Erin Nelson of State College, Pa., Ornella Ngameni of Riverdale, Md., Agut Odolla of Baltimore, Christian Reyes of Kensington, Md., Kyle Savick of Port Deposit, Md., and Marisa Stone of Gaithersburg, Md. 

The event also features the Super Ngewel African Drum and Dance Ensemble. The ensemble performs traditional Senegalese rhythms on authentic handmade instruments while incorporating dance and storytelling.
