"An Evening of Madrigals" is Monday, May 1, 7:30 p.m., at McDaniel College

WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel College students perform as part of The Madrigal Singers during “An Evening of Madrigals” on Monday, May 1, 7:30 p.m., in Baker Chapel at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Md. The event is free and open to the public.

Under the direction of Margaret Boudreaux, director of choral activities, The Madrigal Singers are the premier vocal ensemble at McDaniel College. The group performs a cappella in addition to Renaissance pieces, contemporary jazz vocal music and other selections.

“The program, as always, centers around love,” Boudreaux said. “Pieces range from early renaissance to contemporary vocal jazz, including nearly every member of the ensemble on solo passages in many of the works.”

The concert celebrates springtime with a wide variety of world music and vocal jazz, including well-known selections “Hide and Seek,” “Java Jive” and “A Nightingale Sang In Berkley Square.”
