Just 30 miles from Baltimore's Inner Harbor and 60 miles from Washington, D.C., students here enjoy the resources of major cities, yet reside on a park-like campus. Campus itself has won multiple awards for its landscaping and beauty. Shaggy canopied American Elm trees accentuate the unique topography of the hilltop campus while Zelkova-lined walkways, evergreen landscapes and unique hardscapes offer inviting scenery for students year-round.

Directions from Baltimore, MD

Take I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) to Exit 19 onto I-795 North (Northwest Expressway), continue to its completion. Follow signs to Westminster via Route 140 West around Westminster, and turn left exiting onto Route 31. Make a left at the first traffic light - onto Main Street. Drive 3/10 of a mile and turn right into Admissions Visitor Parking. The Office of Admissions is located in Carroll Hall, the Victorian-style red brick building.

Directions from Penn Station

Follow Charles Street north, then go left on North Ave. Proceed for about four blocks and drive over bridge. Follow signs to Interstate 83 north. Take I-83 to I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) exiting toward Pikesville. Continue to Exit 19 onto I-795 North (Northwest Expressway), continue to its completion. Follow signs to Westminster via Route 140 West around Westminster, and turn left exiting onto Route 31. Make a left at the first traffic light - onto Main Street. Directions from Washington, D.C.

From the Washington Beltway (I-495), exit onto I-270 North toward Frederick, then onto Route 27 North towards Damascus (Exit 16). Take Route 27 North to Westminster (approximately 35 miles from Damascus). Turn left at the intersection of Route 27 and Main Street (Route 32) and drive 1/2 mile. Prior to the stop sign at McDaniel Memorial Arch, bear right, continuing on Main Street, and make your first left into Admissions Visitor Parking.The Office of Admissions is located in Carroll Hall, the Victorian-style red brick building.

Directions from New York, New Jersey or Philadelphia

Drive I-95 South to Exit 64B (I-695 West/Baltimore Beltway). Continue on I-695 to Exit 19 (Northwest Expressway), continue to its completion. Follow signs to Westminster via Route 140 West around Westminster, and turn left exiting onto Route 31. Make a left at the first traffic light onto Main Street. By Air

Both Washington, D.C., and Baltimore, Maryland, are served by major airlines. Westminster is about an hour drive from area airports.

  • Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI) is the airport closest to McDaniel College (45 minutes) and serves as a Southwest hub. 
  • Washington, D.C., is served by two airports, Ronald Reagan Washington National (DCA) and Washington Dulles International (IAD)

Campus Photography and Videography Policy

For Students, Staff & Faculty

McDaniel College reserves the right to photograph/videotape students, staff or faculty for the purposes of institutional promotion. When possible, McDaniel observes the common practice among colleges of obtaining individual permissions for the use of campus photographs/videos in which individuals are featured prominently as the subject. However, permissions are not obtained for the use of student, staff or faculty images in photographs/videos of public events on campus, such as but not limited to rehearsals, performances, lectures, readings, athletic events, student life events, alumnae/i events, and college ceremonies. Academic departments such as but not limited to theatre, art, and English also reserve the right to photograph/videotape students and their work for institutional use.

For the General Public

At any time, photography/videography may be occurring on the McDaniel College campus and incidental footage of members of the general public may be obtained. By entering campus property, individuals grant permission for use to McDaniel College in such circumstances. Questions about this policy should be directed to ocm@mcdaniel.edu.
