Nine McDaniel students have been newly contracted into the Green Terror Battalion. Five earned Army ROTC Scholarships, which are awarded based on scholastic, athletic, and leadership attributes, while four students have contracted non-scholarship.
Retired Lt. Gen. Otto J. Guenther, chair of the McDaniel College Board of Trustees, has been honored for his military achievements, both past and present. Guenther, a 1963 alumnus who majored in Economics and was a member of the Green Terror Battalion Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) program, has been inducted into the national U.S. Army ROTC Hall of Fame, which recognizes ROTC graduates who have distinguished themselves in military or civilian pursuits. He has also been named a 2021 Veteran Champion of the Year in Higher Education by G.I. Jobs magazine, which publishes the Military Friendly® Schools list.

McDaniel College announces Commencement speakers and honorary degree recipients for both the 2020 and 2021 ceremonies to be held on Saturday, May 22. The 2020 Commencement Speaker is McDaniel College President Roger N. Casey, the college’s ninth president who is retiring at the end of the 2020-2021 academic year. The 2021 Commencement Speakers are Mary Lynn Durham and Bill Roj, both 1970 alumni, who supported the renovation of the college’s new Roj Student Center. Nine students have earned Army ROTC Scholarships. The scholarships, which are awarded based on scholastic, athletic and leadership attributes, cover full tuition and fees, plus additional funds for books, as well as a monthly living stipend. The students will be commissioned as second lieutenants and will be required to serve on active duty in the Army Reserve or National Guard upon graduating from McDaniel.
