    McDaniel College receives MHEC approval to pursue launch of four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing

    McDaniel College has received approval from the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) to develop a comprehensive four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). The development of a new four-year Nursing undergraduate program aligns with McDaniel’s current strategic plan and helps to address the nursing shortage in Carroll County and the surrounding region.

    McDaniel College Board of Trustees elects three new members

    McDaniel College has named three new members to its board of trustees. Keith Lawson '79 is the deputy general counsel for tax law at the Investment Company Institute (ICI), Dr. Millard Mazer '83 is a periodontist, and Deborah Seidel '84 is a retired vice president of T. Rowe Price.

    McDaniel College graduates the Class of 2023

    Among family and friends, 368 bachelor’s candidates crossed the stage to receive their degrees on May 20 during McDaniel College’s 153rd Commencement ceremony. Legendary Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist and bestselling author Bob Woodward addressed the graduating class and an Honorary Doctor of Journalism was awarded to Stan Stovall, retired veteran journalist and news anchor with WBAL-TV (NBC Baltimore).

    Master’s students earn degrees at 153rd Commencement

    At McDaniel’s 2023 Graduate Commencement Ceremony, 281 students celebrated the achievement of earning their master’s degrees, conferred from 19 programs. Keynote speaker Sharon Love M.S. '76, founder of the One Love Foundation, shared the value of recognizing inner resiliency.

    On the eve of their graduation, McDaniel College seniors in the Class of 2023 were honored with academic, activity, and leadership awards. Prior to the event, the graduating seniors took part in the Arch Processional led by McDaniel President Julia Jasken.

    Thirteen ROTC cadets commissioned as Army officers

    Thirteen McDaniel graduating students, who served as members of the Green Terror Battalion, received commissions as Army officers on May 19. The keynote speaker for the ceremony was retired Maj. Gen. Michael O’Guinn, who served as the deputy chief of the Army Reserve in Washington, D.C., and currently teaches Business courses at Mount Saint Mary’s University.

    McDaniel celebrates 153rd Commencement on Saturday, May 20

    McDaniel College celebrates its 153rd Commencement for the Class of 2023 on Saturday, May 20. The graduate ceremony begins at 10 a.m., followed by the undergraduate ceremony at 2 p.m. Both ceremonies take place in the college’s Gill Center. A live stream of both ceremonies will also be available online at www.mcdaniel.edu/commencement.

Plus, two special events take place including a Conversation with Carroll County Leaders and a Keynote Lunch with Wall Street Journal reporter and author Melissa Korn (advance registration is required).
