Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Alumni Council Committee

The DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) Committee exists to ensure all the College’s alumni are engaged, including marginalized groups and BIPOC alumni. Establishing opportunities for our alumni to connect with current students, the DEI Committee collaborates with the Office of Alumni Engagement to ensure networking, mentorship, and engaging events.

James Felton

Meet DEI Chair James A. Felton III '95, M.S. '98

When you ask James what McDaniel College was like in the 1990s, he'll tell you it was nowhere near as diverse as it is today. He estimates the college had fewer than 100 students of color out of about 1,200 students at the time.

Inaugural Black History Month Convocation

Our Inaugural Black History Month Convocation featured human rights activist Rev. Nontombi Naomi Tutu. Participants appreciated Rev. Tutu's inspiring message of creating their unique stories.

Lindsey Farrell

Coming Out While Attending McDaniel

There are so many stories of how McDaniel changes lives and here is just one example. Lindsey Farrell '19 turned an uncomfortable event into a creative way to come out to her lacrosse team which changed her life forever. Lindsey's story was featured on Outsports.com.
