Administrator I Certificate
The Administrator I Certificate at Arundel Mills prepares students to become supervisors in instruction or assistant principals. To be eligible for the program, prospective students must hold a teaching certificate and a masters degree from an accredited academic institution. Completion of the 19 hours of graduate work and an internship, allows students to meet the state of Maryland eligibility for certification without completing a second masters degree in education.
According to Maryland requirements, to be eligible for the Administrator I Certificate an applicant must fulfill the following requirements:
- A masters degree from an accredited academic institution and hold a valid Maryland teaching certificate.
- 27 months of satisfactory teaching performance or satisfactory performance as a specialist as defined in Maryland state regulation COMAR 13A.12.04.

| The BEST (Better Educators for Students of Tomorrow) program is McDaniel College's graduate-level initial teacher certification, master of science degree program. The BEST program embraces the rich combination of thorough academic content, research-based learning theory, and "best" teaching practices with significant public school classroom experiences, opportunities for research within the public school setting, and encouragement to reflect upon classroom activities. The BEST program aims to develop teachers who are effective classroom decision makers, accurate and humane diagnosticians, and active researchers.
Program Features:
- Meets professional standards and requirements for initial teacher certification established by the Maryland State Department of Education.
- Features certification in either elementary or secondary education (including Art, Biology, Chemistry, English, French, German, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, Physics, Social Studies and Spanish).
- Full-time students can obtain a master's degree and initial teacher certification in just two years.
- Most courses offered at times convenient for working adults.
- Extensive classroom experience allows students to learn to implement effective instructional strategies and classroom management techniques.
