President Coley launches academic year
The academic year officially began at Aug. 24, when professors and students alike again filled classrooms, labs and studios. The temperatures may have been in the high 80s, but fall had arrived, and there’s nothing quite like autumn on the Hill. It’s a time to get back to academics for sure, but it’s also a great time to tailgate, reunite with college friends, and catch up with McDaniel students who left home just a few months earlier.
Here are some important dates to mark on your calendars now.
Families Weekend – a perfect time to learn about what student life is all about – kicks off on Saturday, Oct. 3. Look for a full day of activities, including tailgating on the rim of McDaniel’s famed drive-in stadium as the Green Terror takes on Juniata College. The men’s soccer team also plans a win against Washington College, while the field hockey and women’s soccer teams battle Swarthmore College. The McDaniel College Theatre presents “The Rocky Horror Show” at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 3.
Homecoming on Oct. 24 features the now famous noon parade of floats moving along Main Street before Green Terror football takes on Ursinus College at 1 p.m. Enjoy taking a stroll around campus and visit the Klitzberg Pavilion to view this year’s Sports Hall of Fame inductees on the e-kiosk.
McDaniel Theatre presents “The Rocky Horror Show” at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 30 – Oct. 3 in WMC Alumni Hall.
Home football games are Sept. 5 against St. Vincent, Sept. 19 against Catholic, Oct. 3 against Juniata, Oct. 24 against Ursinus, Oct. 31 against F&M and Nov. 14 against Johns Hopkins.
Take a break Oct. 12-13 – it’s fall break, no classes.
