Sophomore soccer players Shane McCracken of Marriottsville, Md., and Meghan Sturgill of Westminster, Md., have been named the Centennial Conference (CC) Men’s Co-Offensive and Women’s Offensive Player of the Week respectively for the week of Sept. 3-9.

Sturgill led the Green Terror (2-0) to its first 2-0 start since 2003 with a pair of goals and an assist in Saturday's 4-2 win over Ferrum. McDaniel also defeated Marymount 4-0 earlier in the week.

In other sports, senior Paige Messersmith  of Phoenix, Md., recorded three goals, known as a hat trick, to lead the Green Terror (2-1) to a 5-2 victory over William Paterson in non-conference field hockey action, while cross country runners Chris Jones and Jasmine McCormick finished third in men’s and fifth in women’s 3K races respectively at the Green Terror Challenge.

Messersmith added an assist to her three goals while alumna Katie Corson of Ocean View, N.J., chipped in two goals and two assists.

Junior Jasmine McCormick of Antioch, Calif., finished fifth in the 3,000-meter race to lead McDaniel to a second-place finish Sept. 8 at the Green Terror Challenge in women's cross country action.
