A Program of Support

College Kickstart is a first-year transition program that helps new students start college with confidence and a strong foundation for success. Through engaging, hands-on activities, students learn what to expect in college, how to manage their time and coursework, communicate professionally with faculty and staff, and use essential campus tools and technology.

A First Year Transition Program

Setting You Up for Success

College Kickstart is a comprehensive first-year transition program designed to help students successfully navigate the academic, social, and personal demands of college. Through engaging activities, hands-on practice, and reflection, students build the skills, confidence, and awareness needed to thrive in a collegiate environment.

Throughout the program, students explore college expectations, learning how college differs from high school in accountability, classroom etiquette, and academic responsibility. They develop foundational professional skills, including email communication, technology use, time management, and presentation skills.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students leave with:

  • A clearer understanding of college expectations and systems
  • Practical tools for managing time, coursework, and communication
  • Increased confidence in using campus resources and advocating for themselves
  • Stronger habits for academic success, well-being, and engagement

College Kickstart equips students with the mindset, skills, and support knowledge essential for a successful transition into college and beyond.

Is this program for me?

College Kickstart is designed for students and families who want additional support as they transition to college. If you would benefit from extra guidance in managing your time, staying organized, understanding college expectations, building confidence, and navigating campus resources, this program may be a great fit. Through personalized coaching, hands-on learning, and a structured introduction to college life, Kickstart helps students begin their first semester with the skills and habits needed to thrive.

Unlike McDaniel's programs designed to provide academic accommodations offered through Student Accessibility and Support Services, College Kickstart focuses on building college readiness, independence, and success strategies for any student seeking a stronger start to their college experience.

Cost and Registration

The College Kickstart Experience is $1900 and the program is offered to a limited number of students in the fall semester only.
