I’ve spent over two decades working at the intersection of government, law, campaigns, and public policy. My professional experience informs my teaching.
I worked for Maryland’s legendary power brokers, Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr. and House Speaker Michael E. Busch, where I developed a deep understanding of leadership and legislative strategy. I served as chief of staff to Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski, where I helped lead the county through the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, I serve as chief of staff to Frederick County Executive Jessica Fitzwater, where I help lead Maryland’s fastest-growing jurisdiction.
I’ve run campaigns, including Sen. Chris Van Hollen’s 2016 general election and Rep. Sarah Elfreth’s 2024 primary race. I served as executive director of two state parties and director of two state legislative caucuses, and I worked on winning races in Iowa, Kansas, New York, Pennsylvania, and Utah.
I also served as Director of State Affairs for Johns Hopkins University & Medicine, where I advised higher education and healthcare executives and represented a world-renowned research institution and health system.
I’ve taught at McDaniel since 2014, and I’ve also taught at West Virginia University’s College of Law, Towson University’s Honors College, and American University.
