    McDaniel celebrates 155th Commencement

    McDaniel College celebrates its 155th Commencement for the Class of 2025. The college's Graduate Commencement Ceremony is Saturday, May 17, at 11 a.m. and the Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony will be held Friday, May 23, at 1 p.m. Both ceremonies take place in the college’s Gill Center. A live stream of both ceremonies will also be available online at mcdaniel.edu/commencement.

    Psychology professor selected as Boehlke Fellow

    Psychology Professor Jack D. Arnal is the 2025 Charles A. Boehlke, Jr. Engaged Faculty Fellow. Established with a gift from Charles A. Boehlke, Jr., a 1978 alum of the college and current member of the McDaniel Board of Trustees, faculty are named Boehlke Fellows in recognition of their exceptional commitment to their students, not only in classrooms and research labs but also with career and internship experiences.

    JeannieBird Baking Company's Bernie Vogel receives McDaniel's Lifelong Learner Award

    Bernie Vogel, owner of JeannieBird Baking Company, received the 2025 Delta of Maryland Lifelong Learner Award from the Phi Beta Kappa national honor society at McDaniel College during the college's daylong Academic Symposium on Monday, May 5.

    McDaniel students inducted into academic honor societies

    McDaniel students were inducted this spring into academic honor societies, including Alpha Kappa Delta (Sociology), Beta Beta Beta (Biology), Kappa Mu Epsilon (Math), Lambda Pi Eta (Communication), Omicron Delta Epsilon (Economics), Phi Alpha Theta (History), Psi Chi (Psychology), and Sigma Tau Delta (English), as well as the Phi Beta Kappa Society.

    Speakers announced for 2025 undergraduate and graduate Commencement ceremonies

    McDaniel College announces Commencement speakers for the 2025 undergraduate and graduate ceremonies. Military and business leader Linda L. Singh serves as the speaker for the Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 23, while Associate Professor of Counseling Simeon K. Schlossberg will provide remarks during the Graduate Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 17. Both ceremonies take place in Gill Center. More information is available at mcdaniel.edu/Commencement.

    Four Maryland high school seniors surprised with Dorsey Scholarships to McDaniel

    McDaniel College’s Admissions Office along with the Green Terror surprised four incoming Class of 2029 students by announcing them as the college’s newest Dorsey Scholars. The Dorsey Scholars Program is the highest academic honor at McDaniel and includes full tuition, room, and board for all four years.

    Students and faculty take home awards from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival

    At the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival for Region II, Assistant Professor Shana Joslyn was awarded the Innovative Teaching Award; Theatre Arts junior Ave Maria Contreras won best director for a 24-hour play; and alum Jeremy Volker ’24 earned the regional first place Randy Lutz Allied Design & Technology Award for makeup design.

    Nursing faculty member receives statewide fellowship

    Jennifer Ort, D.N.S., RNC MN-N, assistant director of McDaniel’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.), is a recipient of a Nursing Faculty Fellowship from the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC). The award supports the recruitment and retention of nurse educators in Maryland by providing grants to new full-time nursing faculty.

    McDaniel College announces fall 2024 dean's list

    McDaniel College announces its fall 2024 dean's list, recognizing full-time undergraduate students for outstanding academic achievement. Highest honors are earned for a semester grade point average of 3.90 or higher, high honors for a grade point average of 3.70-3.89, and honors for a 3.50-3.69 grade point average.

    Carroll County teachers who achieved National Board Certification through McDaniel celebrated

    McDaniel celebrated 20 new National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs) who participated in the college's first cohort of a three-semester graduate course sequence, developed as part of a $1.8 million Teacher Collaborative Grant from the Maryland State Department of Education. All of those enrolled currently teach in Carroll County Public Schools and achieved an impressive 83% achievement rate, above the 71% current pass rate for National Board Certification.
