    McDaniel College's Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion hosts events in February in honor of Black History Month, including a Black History Month Convocation: Educational Showcase and Black History Month Convocation on Thursday, Feb. 8, and a discussion on “Navigating Higher Ed in the Current DEIJ Climate” on Thursday, Feb. 22. These events are free and open to the public.

    McDaniel alumni give back with Data Analytics internship

    Alums John Sobanski ’99 and Kevin Worley ’00 connected with their alma mater to invite graduate students in the M.S. in Data Analytics program to intern with their company, Pyramid Systems Inc. They knew it was the right call when Data Analytics student Michael Eniolade interned with their team.

    The “Biennial Faculty Exhibition" highlights a variety of works by current Art faculty members at the college. The exhibition runs through Friday, Feb. 16, in McDaniel's Esther Prangley Rice Gallery. An opening reception takes place Friday, Jan. 26, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

    New Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) receives Maryland Board of Nursing approval

    McDaniel's new Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) has received approval by the Maryland Board of Nursing. Additionally, the Kahlert Foundation has donated $150,000 to support development of the BSN program, which officially launches at McDaniel in fall 2024.

    McDaniel College announces fall 2023 dean's list

    McDaniel College announces its fall 2023 dean's list, recognizing full-time undergraduate students for outstanding academic achievement. Highest honors are earned for a semester grade point average of 3.90 or higher, high honors for a grade point average of 3.70-3.89, and honors for a 3.50-3.69 grade point average.

    Environmental Studies seniors awarded top prizes at annual statewide environmental conference

    Two seniors majoring in Environmental Studies were awarded top prizes at the Maryland Water Monitoring Council’s Annual Conference held Nov. 17 at the Maritime Conference Center in Linthicum Heights, Maryland. Garrett Tucker’s research poster won first place and Olivia Sunde, who is also a double major in Biology, earned second place for her research poster at the conference.

    Cinema alum earns two regional student Emmy Awards for capstone film

    Cinema alum Jonny Hughes ’23 was awarded two 2022-23 Capital Emmy Student Production Awards for his capstone film "Sky & Shadow," which he created in his final year at McDaniel. We asked him 10 questions to get Hughes' insights on the Cinema program and the significance of earning two Emmy Awards after graduation.

    In The Middle Ages though Video Games, Lecturer in History Jillian Bjerke is guiding first-year students through a journey into the past with video game play. A First Year Seminar, the course pairs an academic subject with an introduction to McDaniel and the college experience.
