    Five Baltimore City high school seniors surprised with full-tuition scholarships to McDaniel

    Representatives from McDaniel College, Baltimore City Public Schools, and the CollegeBound Foundation surprised five Baltimore City high school seniors with full-tuition scholarships to attend McDaniel College as part of the Class of 2029. They each received a scholarship covering full tuition for all four years at McDaniel, valued at approximately $200,000.

    McDaniel College announces Commencement speakers for the 2025 undergraduate and graduate ceremonies. Military and business leader Linda L. Singh serves as the speaker for the Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 23, while Associate Professor of Counseling Simeon K. Schlossberg will provide remarks during the Graduate Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 17. Both ceremonies take place in Gill Center. More information is available at mcdaniel.edu/Commencement.

    Four Maryland high school seniors surprised with Dorsey Scholarships to McDaniel

    McDaniel College’s Admissions Office along with the Green Terror surprised four incoming Class of 2029 students by announcing them as the college’s newest Dorsey Scholars. The Dorsey Scholars Program is the highest academic honor at McDaniel and includes full tuition, room, and board for all four years.

    Maryland Poet Laureate Lady Brion delivers annual Bothe Poetry Reading

    To kick off National Poetry Month, McDaniel College hosts the annual B. Christopher Bothe Memorial Lecture with spoken word artist and Maryland Poet Laureate Lady Brion. The event takes place on Tuesday, April 1, at 7:30 p.m., in Coley Rice Lounge, McDaniel Hall. It is free and open to the public.

    Senior Art majors showcase works in annual student honors art exhibition

    Titled “Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy,” the exhibition runs Thursday, March 13–Friday, March 28, in Esther Prangley Rice Gallery. An opening reception takes place Thursday, March 13, 5:30-7:30 p.m., with a gallery talk at 6 p.m. McDaniel students exhibiting their work are senior Art majors Gillian Girod, Lacy Newhouse, Zoe Shelby, Sarah Watson, and Aaliyah Williams.

    Students and faculty take home awards from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival

    At the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival for Region II, Assistant Professor Shana Joslyn was awarded the Innovative Teaching Award; Theatre Arts junior Ave Maria Contreras won best director for a 24-hour play; and alum Jeremy Volker ’24 earned the regional first place Randy Lutz Allied Design & Technology Award for makeup design.

    Kinesiology students present at annual meeting in exercise science

    Five McDaniel students presented research at the 2024 Mid-Atlantic Regional Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine Annual Meeting. Their collaborative Kinesiology research projects in exercise science were conducted with mentorship from Professor Jennifer McKenzie ’01 and Associate Professor Richard Laird.

    McDaniel College announces its fall 2024 dean's list, recognizing full-time undergraduate students for outstanding academic achievement. Highest honors are earned for a semester grade point average of 3.90 or higher, high honors for a grade point average of 3.70-3.89, and honors for a 3.50-3.69 grade point average.
