Art students showcase their best artwork in college's annual juried exhibition

Winners were announced during the opening reception of the Kathryn E. Wentz Juried Undergraduate Exhibition on Friday, March 22. The exhibition runs through Friday, March 29, in Esther Prangley Rice Gallery, Peterson Hall.

Sarah Mendez, senior Art major from Damascus, Maryland, won Best of Show for "What's In My Fridge?" as well as an Honorable Mention for "Well, S@%&".

The Kathryn E. Wentz Juried Undergraduate Exhibition highlights the best artwork by McDaniel's undergraduate students.

Art students at the college are annually invited to submit up to five pieces of art that they have done while studying at McDaniel for inclusion in the exhibition with nine awards presented for first, second, and third places, honorable mentions, as well as Best in Show and a Foundations Award.

Award winners were announced during the opening reception held Friday, March 22. The exhibition runs through Friday, March 29.

Nate Foster, director of exhibitions at the Art Association of Harrisburg, served as the juror for the exhibition. An artist and instructor, Foster works to showcase artists from underrepresented communities, as well as well-known regional artists, in the Art Association of Harrisburg galleries. He also helps manage the association's community exhibition program. The Art Association of Harrisburg is a hub of cultural events in Central Pennsylvania.
