WESTMINSTER, Md. – Common Ground on the Hill at McDaniel College presents workshops and a special concert featuring visiting musicians.

The events, which are open to the public, take place Saturdays, March 4, March 18 and April 22, at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Md. See full schedule below.

Founded on the premise that “there is a common human thread unifying all people expressed in our various artistic traditions,” the mission of Common Ground on the Hill “is to make this thread a path towards human understanding, tolerance, fulfillment, and enjoyment.”

OLD-TIME MUSIC WORKSHOP WITH BRUCE MOLSKY’S MOUNTAIN DRIFTERS
Saturday, March 4, 1 p.m.
Thompson Hall

Cost to participate is $50.

Common Ground on the Hill at McDaniel College presents a music workshop with Bruce Molsky’s Mountain Drifters. Grammy-nominated Bruce Molsky, known as “one of America’s premier fiddling talents,” is touring throughout the United States with his new group. In addition to Molsky, the group includes clawhammer banjo player Allison de Groot and guitarist Stash Wyslouch.

During the workshop, participants will be divided into smalls groups—directed by Molsky, de Groot and Wyslouch—to then join back together and play as a group.

Tickets are $25 or $22 for seniors and students with ID.

The Kruger Brothers perform their award-winning fusion of bluegrass and classical music as part of Common Ground on the Hill at McDaniel College.

OLD-TIME MUSIC WORKSHOP WITH THE HIGH RIDGE RAMBLERS
Saturday, April 22, 1 p.m.
Thompson Hall

Cost to participate is $75.

Common Ground on the Hill at McDaniel College presents a music workshop with The High Ridge Ramblers. This trio performs West Virginia mountain music on fiddle, banjo and guitar, and features musicians Dave Bing, Andrew Dunlap and Mark Payne.

During the workshop, the trio will transform an old-time fiddle or banjo tune into a string band tune. They will also explain the techniques to approach old-time music.
