WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel College theatre arts students perform in “Saints and Sisters” at the college.

Performances are Wednesday, Oct. 3–Saturday, Oct. 6, at 7:30 p.m., in WMC Alumni Hall at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Md.

Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for seniors (over 60), active military members and veterans, students, as well as those with a McDaniel College ID. For ticket information, call 410-857-2448.

“Saints and Sisters” is a collection of three short plays written by Gertrude Stein, including “Saints and Singing,” a lyrical celebration of friendship; “Three Sisters Who Are Not Sisters,” a send-up of murder mysteries and melodramas; and “Accents in Alsace,” written after World War I. when Alsace, freed of German rule, reverted back to France.

The McDaniel production is directed by theater arts adjunct lecturer Richard Sautter, who said, “Don't expect logic or realism. Stein’s writing seems to go in 10 directions at once. She was interested in seeing things at different levels and from different perspectives simultaneously. At the same time, she delighted in the sheer joy of language. Words are both toys and tools. You never quite know where one of her lines is going to take you, but you’re always glad for the journey.”

The cast includes seniors Ellie Davis of Prairie Village, Kan.; Kiah Hyman of Ellicott City, Md.; Ben Michaels of Lakeville, Minn.; Anna Rozier of Westport, Conn.; Chris Spahn of Boyds, Md.; and Jen Willard of North Potomac, Md.

Others in the cast are juniors Kendall Harnsberger of Baltimore; Kevin Tyson of Baltimore; and Patsy Zetkulic of Arlington, Va.; sophomores Vanessa Bliss of Reston, Va.; Meghan Callis of Damascus, Md.; and Matt Foley of Fair Lawn, N.J.; and L.J. Kindall of Huntington, N.Y.
