A campus safety grant from the Maryland Higher Education Commission has funded on-campus security enhancements at McDaniel.

McDaniel College received a $375,000 grant, part of $18.75 million awarded to Maryland colleges and universities through the Maryland Higher Education Commission’s Campus Safety Grant program.

The grant was used to purchase and install electronic access devices in seven campus buildings, along with new closed-circuit television (CCTV) security cameras.

Buildings that received new electronic access devices included the Art Studio, Eaton Hall, Hill Hall, Levine Hall, Lewis Hall of Science, Merritt Hall, and Peterson Hall.

Director of Campus Safety Eric Immler said, “The college already has electronic swipe card access in our traditional residence halls and this funding has allowed us to expand installation to select buildings, along with exterior security cameras. Not only will this additional technology enhance security coverage of campus, but will allow for better control of building access for members of our campus community.”
