McDaniel mourns loss of longtime men’s basketball coach Kevin Curley

Longtime Head Men’s Basketball Coach Kevin Curley died Wednesday, May 27, after battling metastatic esophageal cancer.

As the winningest coach in McDaniel men’s basketball program history, Coach Curley earned his 200th career win in November 2025, becoming the first coach in program history to surpass the 200-win milestone. 

Coach Curley came to McDaniel in 2007, leading the men's basketball program for nearly two decades. During that time, he brought the team to seven Centennial Conference Tournament appearances and five ECAC Tournament appearances, including back-to-back seasons in 2025 and 2026. He was named a two-time Centennial Conference Coach of the Year in 2009 and 2014 and coached 19 All-Centennial Conference selections.
