McDaniel College officials have made the decision to open campus offices at noon tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan. 27. This includes Hoover Library. All undergraduate classes are already canceled tomorrow to allow for residential student move-in to begin at noon. Spring undergraduate classes will begin on Wednesday, Jan. 28.
Although the college will be open tomorrow, this is a reminder that employees, with the exception of essential personnel who are designated by department heads, may elect to use liberal leave should travel conditions be too hazardous. Staff may work with supervisors to take vacation time, flextime, or leave without pay. When in doubt, the employee should place safety first.
As a reminder, Englar Dining Hall will operate under modified hours tomorrow with continental breakfast starting at 9 a.m. and additional brunch options to be served from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. For dinner, Englar Dining Hall will be open for normal hours from 4:45-8:30 p.m. The Hilltop Pub, Caseys’ Corner, and Champs will be closed.
For graduate students, online and hybrid graduate courses with scheduled virtual meetings will proceed as normal. Off-campus graduate courses always follow the home school system announcement.
The snow removal plan continues to be in effect on campus. Both the RED and GREEN routes on the snow removal plan will be in use when the college opens. All buildings will be accessible when the school opens, although you may not be able to use your normal path.
Please note the following safety advice:
Stay on clear walkways and avoid external stairwells.
Adhere to the signs posted as some sidewalks and stairwells remain closed.
As you enter and exit buildings, be cautious of wet, slippery floors and be mindful of snow coming off of roofs and overhangs.
