McDaniel Weekly - January 19th

general campus photo

Students—

As we enter the final week of Jan-term and many of you prepare to come back to campus in February, let me join with everyone wishing you the best of health, success, and luck!

This is a time of great change for our country and for our community on the Hill. Now, more than ever, I think the vision of our First Principles is key, affirming that “liberally educated men and women think and act critically, creatively, and humanely. They take charge of their lives and develop their unique potentials with reason, imagination, and human concern. They take their place in the global community, understanding their responsibilities to aid individuals and to contribute to the larger society.”

This is a time of new things for me, as well, as I’ve accepted a role as the director of an entrepreneurship program at a neighboring university. For almost nine years here at McDaniel, it’s been my privilege to work with you as a teacher, the writing center director, the director of the entrepreneurship program, the Fulbright program advisor, and more. Much of that work has been with the great teams at the CEO and OSE. I’m excited to see how they continue to serve you in the years to come and all the things you will build together!

My sincerest hope is that you continue to seize opportunities and create your own destiny here on the Hill. I remain a McDaniel ally and am committed to continuing to support you and your journey in whatever way I can in the years to come; I look forward to staying in touch with you on LinkedIn!

Continue to speak up, get creative, and make this upcoming semester and our community—and the world beyond it—all that you want it to be.

Sincerely,

Dean Ambrose
