From Courtney Cunningham, Assistant Director of Student Engagement

Happy winter break! You all have made it to the end of the semester and should be very proud. I am here to share a few quick notes to keep in mind:

  • Get ready for OSE’s exciting online Jan-Term events! There will be themed trivias, calligraphy and origami workshops, a video-game tournament, and much more. Info about events will be provided on the OSE Instagram and on the Arch.
  • Congratulations to our new Student Government Association representatives! We recognize and honor the commitment from all of the candidates to making the Hill a better place for all of us. OSE is committed to partnering with you in the weeks to come! Our newly elected SGA Executive Board includes:
    • President: Aaron White
    • Vice President: Marnice Briscoe
    • Secretary: Max Sweeney
    • Treasurer: Nicholas Jones

Have a happy and safe break! I look forward to seeing you online during Jan-term, and back on campus in the spring.

Save the date -- Social Media for Social Change on MLK day!

McDaniel College's Martin Luther King Day of Service virtual event, Social Media for Social Change, will take place on Monday, January 18th, from 1-2:30 p.m. Learn from national, award-winning changemakers on how to create social media campaigns that increase equity for communities of color, sexual assault survivors, and transgender communities.

This event is FREE and open to the public. Additional details TBA.

Seniors -- the CEO is ready to help you with your plans!

You’re halfway there! Starting to get questions about life after graduation? NOW is the time to schedule an appointment with the CEO (we’re available in December and January) about your job and grad school search. If you haven’t already, download the red Handshake app on your phone -- jobs, research and fellowship opportunities, and employer/grad school virtual information sessions are waiting for you!

Mark your calendar for the February 24th online job fair with many national partners; seniors can also connect with alumni mentors via our new partnership with GMI Mentoring. Email Dr. Manuel Ruiz (mruiz@mcdaniel.edu) with any questions.

Sophomores -- get ahead of the curve. Connect with mentors!

Are you seeking clarity about your major/future career goals? Looking to build your LinkedIn expertise? Gain valuable experience and occupational knowledge with the CEO’s spring 2021 alumni mentorship program, just for sophomores!

Participating students will enhance their own career development by understanding the relationship between coursework, experiential education, networking, personal traits, and career. Email Dr. Manuel Ruiz (mruiz@mcdaniel.edu) for more details.

Return your library books

The library will be closed to students after Wednesday, November 25. Please remember to return any library materials before you return home for winter break. If you have any questions, please contact Peggy Klinge (pklinge@mcdaniel.edu), Circulation and Reserves Manager.
