Nominations for Commencement Speakers

Beginning this year, we are inviting our campus community to nominate the Commencement speaker in hopes that this will continue as a yearly practice of the college. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and trustees may all participate in this nomination process, although suggestions must be received by November 15 in order to be considered for the upcoming ceremony. The final selection will be made by the college’s leadership.

Dear McDaniel Community,

Although Commencement might seem far away, we are already in the beginning stages of planning our 152nd commencement ceremony, which is scheduled for Saturday, May 21, 2022.

Each year, the college chooses a speaker to address the graduating class at Commencement. Beginning this year, we are inviting our campus community to nominate the Commencement speaker in hopes that this will continue as a yearly practice of the college. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and trustees may all participate in this nomination process, although suggestions must be received by November 15 in order to be considered for the upcoming ceremony. The final selection will be made by the college’s leadership.

Before nominating, please be aware that we are looking for speakers who exemplify the mission and values of McDaniel College and have made distinguished and notable contributions to society through social/civic engagement, personal perseverance, or professional accomplishment. The Commencement speaker selection will be announced to the campus community and the public in Spring 2022.
