Several McDaniel College students contracted as cadets in the Green Terror Battalion

Nine McDaniel students have been newly contracted into the Green Terror Battalion. Five earned Army ROTC Scholarships, which are awarded based on scholastic, athletic, and leadership attributes, while four students have contracted non-scholarship.

Joshua Carter, Brandon Grubb, and Connor Ward earned Army ROTC Scholarships through the Green Terror Battalion.

Several McDaniel College students have been newly contracted into the Green Terror Battalion. Five earned Army ROTC Scholarships, while four students have contracted non-scholarship.

Both contract and scholarship recipients will be commissioned as second lieutenants and will incur a service commitment to be served on active duty, in the Army Reserve, or National Guard upon graduating from McDaniel.

Army ROTC Scholarships are awarded based on scholastic, athletic, and leadership attributes. The scholarship covers full tuition, room and board, and fees, plus additional funds for books, as well as a monthly living stipend. Scholarships totaling nearly $2.3 million were awarded to the Green Terror Battalion, which includes cadets from McDaniel, Hood, and Mount St. Mary’s.

Army ROTC has been a tradition at McDaniel College since 1919, and the Green Terror Battalion is one of the oldest ROTC programs in the nation. McDaniel has consistently been recognized among Military Friendly Schools® and the college’s Military Legacy Scholarship guarantees up to $100,000 over four years to all military veterans, active-duty military personnel and their children. McDaniel also participates in the Post-9/11 GI Bill and Yellow Ribbon Program.

The scholarship recipients include:

  • Joshua Carter of Port Deposit, Md., who has earned a four-year advanced designee Army ROTC Scholarship valued at $199,760.

  • Brandon Grubb of Olney, Md., who has earned a four-year advanced designee Army ROTC Scholarship valued at $199,760.

  • Elijah Hansbrough of Westminster, Md., who has earned a three-year advanced designee Army ROTC Scholarship valued at $149,820.

  • Kevin Munford of Laurel, Md., who has earned a three-year advanced designee Army ROTC Scholarship valued at $149,820.

  • Connor Ward of Woolwich Township, N.J., who has earned a four-year advanced designee Army ROTC Scholarship valued at $199,760.

The non-scholarship contract recipients include:

  • Maurice Alviarez-Lugo of Aberdeen, Md.

  • Nicholas Jordan of Waldorf, Md.

  • Patrick McDermott of Hendersonville, N.C.

  • David Newman of Lanham, Md.
