Meet the Campus Safety Team

Eric Immler

Chief Eric D. Immler Director of Campus Safety

Chief Eric Immler serves as the Director of Campus Safety. With over 20 years of law enforcement experience, in addition to assignments in Patrol and Community Outreach, he served as a Detective with the Westminster Police Department, a member of the State House Detail with the Maryland Capitol Police, additional command staff positions, and Director of Campus Safety & Security at Garrison Forest School. Chief Immler is an active member with the Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators-Chesapeake Region, and a member of the Maryland Chiefs’ of Police, Harvard Associates in Police Science, and International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators.

Captain Kurt Dutton Deputy Director of Campus Safety

Captain Kurt Dutton serves as the Deputy Director of Campus Safety.  Joining McDaniel in the fall of 2016, after retiring from a career in law enforcement as U.S. Special Agent.  Captain Dutton focuses much of his time ensuring the Colleges compliance with the Clery Act, and with an attention to detail that assists officers and investigators.  

Mike Gromley

Lt. Mike Gromley Lieutenant/Operations Manager

Lieutenant Mike Gromley is the Operations Manager and Patrol Commander for Campus Safety.  Lt. Gromley oversees the daily delivery of services by the patrol officers and manages all special events occurring at the College.  In his 25+ years career in law enforcement, Lt. Gromley attained instructor certifications in firearms, weapons armor, less-lethal, chemical agents, RADAR/LIDAR.  Lt. Gromley was a Team Leader for the Carroll County Crisis Response Team (SWAT), and an undercover narcotics Detective with the Westminster Police Department.  He also holds several certifications in computer network infrastructure and computer software investigations.  Lt. Gromley was previously the Manger of Safety and Security at Mercy High School.

When not at work he can be found on his bike, navigating a flight-simulation, sim racing, building a model, or wood working.

Sgt. Steve Curry Sergeant/Shift Supervisor

Sgt. Steve Curry has been with McDaniel College since 2015 and serves as an evening shift patrol supervisor. With 25 years of law enforcement experience, former certified Maryland police officer, Sgt. Curry also worked in Public Safety at Gettysburg College from 2010 to 2015. 

Brandon Hall

Sgt. Brandon Hall Sergeant/Shift Supervisor

Sergeant Brandon Hall serves as an evening shift patrol supervisor, Special Police Officer and previously as an investigator with the Department of Campus Safety. Previous experience includes safety and security positions at Springfield Hospital and Corrections. Sgt. Hall is a certified defensive tactics instructor. Sgt. Hall enjoys spending time with family and friends. On his off time, you can find him riding motorcycles or working on vehicles. He is currently building a racing truck. He also likes to golf and has 11 tattoos.

Ryan Etzler

Sgt. Ryan Etzler

Sergeant Ryan Etzler has been with the Department since August of 2022. Sgt. Etzler serves as a Special Police Officer, as an evening shift Patrol Supervisor. Sgt. Etzler’s previous experience includes serving 12 years in the United States Marine Corps Infantry with multiple deployments, and 8 years as a Security Police Officer with the U.S. Dept. of Energy. Sgt. Etzler enjoys spending time with family and friends and working out on his time off. 

 

Cpl. Tim Boggs Safety Officer II

Cpl. Tim Boggs has served as a Special Police Officer with the Department of Campus Safety since 2020. With over 20 years of law enforcement experience, retired with the Maryland Capitol Police, and formerly with Springfield Hospital Police and the Westminster City Police Department.

Denise Duarte

PFC. Denise Duarte

Private First Class Denise Duarte has served the McDaniel College community since 2022. She brings more than 10 years of experience working in a variety of correctional facilities and more recently worked as a security officer at Carroll Hospital Center. In her spare time she likes to watch sports and movies. PFC Duarte also has many tattoos with plans to get more. 

Marcus Glover-Saunders

Private First Class Marcus Glover Saunders has been with the Department since August 2023. Saunders’ previous experience includes 3 years with the Greensboro Police Department in North Carolina and Armed Security with the Department of Justice.

Christopher Fornchor

Ofc. Christopher Fornchor Safety Officer I

Officer Christopher Fornchor has served as a Campus Safety Officer since April of 2022. Ofc. Fornchor has previous professional experiences include the a vendor for nature's own bakery, Head chef Baltimore soundstage, sales executive for a health insurance firm and medical lab specialist. Ofc. Fornchor has a degree in Microbiology and a certificate in Project management. Ofc. Fornchor’s core values are understanding people’s emotions, having difficult conversations, conflict resolutions and respecting the laws of the land. He believes in being a righteous man and will try to bring joy in every situation. Fun facts, Ofc. Fornchor believes in charity and during the Christmas Holidays as he dress up like Santa to spread joy to people, and I once cooked meals for Bob Saget and Dave Duchovny in the same month.

John Dixon

Officer John Dixon has served as a Campus Safety Officer since March of 2022. Ofc. Dixon has previous experience as a security officer with Allied Universal and serves as a volunteer Auxiliary Officer for the Westminster Police Department. Ofc. Dixon is passionate about serving, protecting, and making our community a better place.

Daniel Joseph

Ofc. Daniel Joseph

Officer Daniel Joseph has served the McDaniel College community since 2022. Ofc. Joseph previously served as a Campus Safety Officer at Hood College and also worked in the computer repair industry. Ofc. Joseph is an avid ice hockey player, who also enjoys traveling across the country for hiking and backpacking trips. Fun fact, he makes a really good paper football

Brenda Roper Support Services Supervisor

Brenda Roper serves as the Support Services Supervisor for the Department of Campus Safety. She has been with McDaniel College since 2016, and previously served over 34 years with the Westminster Police Department, specializing in Police Communications.

Connie Taylor Dispatch/Communications Officer

Ms. Connie Taylor is a Communications Officer/Dispatcher with the Department of Campus Safety. She has worked as a dispatcher for over 7 years at McDaniel College. Connie holds certification from International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED).

Taylor Garber Dispatch/Communications Officer

Taylor Garber has served as a dispatcher since June of 2021. She has also previously served as a Junior Administrative member at Westminster Fire Department. When not at work she enjoys the company of books, nature, and animals. She also has a big love for New York City and Marching Band. Taylor volunteers her time to Westminster Fire Department.
