Aaron-White

Aaron White is a Psychology major from Baltimore, Maryland.

When I took my first step on the Hill, I was: a high school senior, and I was amazed at the sense of community that was established here on the Hill.

The me who will ring the Old Main bell on Commencement Day is: a changed man from the person that rang in freshman year. I have learned so much about myself.

Footprints I’m leaving on the Hill: I have helped cultivate so many changes here on the Hill. The biggest one I’m proud of was revamping the Student Government Association (SGA) organizational structure.

Professor who most influenced who I have become: Erin Watley is one the professors who has inspired me to become the person I am today. Her classes have taught me so about myself. She has inspired me to want to teach a class on difficult conversations and be comfortable with the uncomfortable.

My mentor. For life.: Ambi Shannon has made my experience on the Hill so worthwhile. I learned so much from working with her in Residence Life that will make me a better professional in the work world. A lot of my professionalism I learned from her.

Best class ever: Difficult Conversations because it causes us to be comfortable with the uncomfortable and it teaches us to have conversations that are difficult and learn to appreciate the different views of the conversation.

Took me totally by surprise: How many relationships I have developed with people on campus. I’m usually really anti-social.

My favorite spot on campus: Hill Hall, 2nd floor. Doing homework in Hill is so peaceful. Also the first floor of the Library.

My capstone: “How African Americans Conceptualize Mental Health”

What it’s about:  My senior capstone is talking about how the African American Community understand mental health and what barriers prevent them from seeking treatment.

What’s next: I have accepted a position working at Amazon in a managerial role.
