Through a unique blend of graduate study, on-the-job training, and financial aid, the HSM program at McDaniel will help you make a real difference in people’s lives.

How It Works

As a graduate student in the HSM program, you’ll complete coursework while experiencing a live-in internship at Target Community & Educational Services, Inc., a local nonprofit agency affiliated with McDaniel. As a Target Scholar, you’ll receive:

  • 100% tuition scholarship
  • Free room and board
  • A graduate stipend for interns starting at $45,000
  • Health, vision, and dental benefits

Admissions Requirements

Candidates required to submit:

  • Completed application for graduate study. https://admission.mcdaniel.edu/apply/
  • Official transcript verifying completion of an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum GPA of 3.00. (Students with a GPS between 2.75 and 2.99 will be admitted provisionally which requires a student to maintain a 3.0 GPA in the first 9 to 12 credit hours. Students with less than a 2.75 GPA can be considered for provisional admission on a case-by-case basis but may be required to provide additional documents or participate in an interview. Admission may also require additional conditions.)
  • A professional resume highlighting related work experience.

 

Candidates who wish to be considered for the Target Scholar opportunity should also:

Degree Requirements

  • 30 semester hours
  • In concurrence with course work, complete an internship as a Community Living Manager for Target Community & Educational Services

State Authorization & Professional Licensure

Graduates of the Human Service Management Master’s degree program:

  • Find management positions with various nonprofit and for-profit agencies serving people with disabilities.
  • Work in government agencies at the federal, state, city, and county levels with a focus on general education and special education services.

Scholarship Opportunity! Target Scholars Program A One-of-a-Kind Partnership

Hear more about our one-of-a-kind partnership and scholarship opportunity! McDaniel's HSM program partners with Target Community & Educational Services, Inc, a local human services agency which provides support services to individuals with developmental disabilities.  This partnership provides an opportunity for our students to gain the knowledge and skills to become a manager in the human services industry while getting on the job experience through a paid internship.  The Target Scholars program offers 100% tuition scholarship, paid internship ($45,000 annually), health and dental benefits and housing.
