McDaniel College hosted the dedication of Rembert Field at McDaniel’s Kenneth R. Gill Stadium in honor of 1961 alumnus Donald Mosby Rembert, Sr., and 1960 alumna Judith Ellis Rembert of Reston, Va. The ceremony took place during the Green Terror football game against Muhlenberg on Saturday, Oct. 26.

The Remberts, who are committed to preserving and promoting the College’s legacy, founded the WMC Heritage Society in 2004 and assisted in the renovation of the former Buell House, once occupied by the founder of the College, Fayette Buell, now renamed Rembert House. In addition, their support led to the naming of Rembert Way, which leads to the stadium, and of Waldorf Way, dedicated to a former football coach at the college, Robert "Bob" J. Waldorf (1957-1965). They also established the annual Rembert Lecture in the Economics and Business Administration department.

Donald earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics in 1961 and has served as a member of the McDaniel College Board of Trustees since 2007. As a student, he played all four years on the Green Terror football team. A member of the college’s ROTC program, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, U.S. Army Reserves and U.S. Naval Reserves. A certified financial planner, he has worked as a financial advisor since 1974 and is currently a principal at Rembert Pendleton Jackson. He is an active member of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc., the Financial Planning Association, the Southern Economics Association, the Ludwig von Mises Institute, the Northern Virginia Board of Realtors and a member of Accredited Investment Fiduciary Organization.

Judith graduated in 1960 with a bachelor’s degree in English and was a member of the Phi Alpha Mu sorority.

Speakers at the ceremony were McDaniel College President Roger N. Casey and McDaniel College Board Chair Otto J. Guenther. In addition to the Remberts, other attendees included McDaniel Athletics Director Paul Moyer and Centennial Conference Executive Director Portia Hoeg.

Rembert Field supports McDaniel’s intercollegiate sports teams, including Green Terror football, women’s field hockey, men’s and women’s lacrosse, and men’s and women’s track and field.
