McDaniel’s winter-spring calendar is packed with concerts, art exhibitions, intriguing lectures, two SmartTALKs and a performance of a powerful new translation of the Greek classic, Euripides’ “The Bakkhai.”
Two 150th anniversary art exhibitions are showcased at the Carroll Arts Center and the Miller Senate Office Building in Annapolis. “Legacy: Celebrating 150 Years of the Fine Arts at McDaniel College” is open through Feb. 24 at the arts center while “150 Years on the Hill” is in Annapolis through March 30. Rice Gallery on campus hosts a full array of art exhibitions, most featuring student art.
Choir alumni return for an encore performance when the College Choir takes the stage April 22 for “Spirit: The 150th Anniversary Reunion of the McDaniel College Choir,” directed by Margie Boudreaux. April and May are highlighted with concerts by the College band, Madrigals, jazz ensemble, gospel choir plus Masterworks Chorale of Carroll County and two performances by Chamber Music on the Hill.
Alumni return for SmartTALK conversations with McDaniel President Roger Casey. Joining the conversation are Shane Ireland ’97 and Quinn Salamandra ’97, co-founders of the staffing solutions company Corporate Brokers, on March 6 and Tom Kehoe ‘88, founder, president and brewmaster of Yards Brewing Company in Philadelphia, on April 19.
