McDaniel ranks #13 — out of 70 liberal arts institutions – in Washington Monthly’s 2013 "Best-Bang-for-the-Buck" rankings, an exclusive list of colleges in America that do the best job of helping non-wealthy students attain marketable degrees at affordable prices.

McDaniel also ranks #92 in a listing of 255 liberal arts institutions evaluated by the Monthly in three broad categories: Social Mobility (recruiting and graduating low-income students); Research (producing cutting-edge scholarship and PhDs); and Service (encouraging students to give something back to their country).

The editors of Washington Monthly, which began its rankings in 2005 to call attention to service-oriented schools, say their central question in assessing colleges and universities is, "What are colleges doing for the country?"

"McDaniel is proud to answer this question with evidence of demonstrated service to community, country and the world at large," says Dr. Roger Casey, president of the college. "As one of the Colleges That Change Lives, we pride ourselves on the opportunities we take to better ourselves and the world around us."
