Alums recognized for alumni career and service achievement

Two McDaniel alumni received Trustee Alumni Awards, the highest alumni honor given at McDaniel, during the Trustee-Faculty Dinner held May 8. The 2026 recipients are Maureen Carroll Martin '86, a seasoned editor, writer, and communications professional, and Tyler Wilson '95, P'21, P'23, president of the Kiva Group, which specializes in print communication, advertising, and design.

Trustee Alumni Awards 2026

McDaniel College President Julia Jasken and Board Chair Bruce H. Preston '75 presented the 2026 Trustee Alumni Awards to Maureen Carroll Martin '86 and Tyler Wilson '95, P'21, P'23.

The McDaniel College Board of Trustees recognized two alumni with Trustee Alumni Awards, the highest alumni honor given at McDaniel College in recognition of alumni career and service achievement.

The awards were presented during the May 8 Trustee-Faculty Dinner.

 

2026 Trustee Alumni Award Recipients:

Maureen Carroll Martin

Maureen Carroll Martin '86

Maureen Carroll Martin is a 1986 alum of the college with a bachelor’s degree in Communication. A seasoned editor, writer, and communications professional, she has nearly four decades of experience supporting research organizations, nonprofits, government agencies, and community institutions. 

Currently, Martin serves as a copy editor and program coordinator for Industry Insights, Inc., an independent research and analytics firm, where she provides copy editing, proofreading, and editorial support across surveys, reports, and client-facing materials. She previously spent 22 years with Association Research, Inc, which was acquired by Industry Insights in fall 2024. 

Other leadership and communication roles that Martin has had in her career include manager of publications and communications for Holy Cross Hospital and editor and writer in the Public Information Office for the City of Rockville.

She remains an active and dedicated alum of McDaniel, receiving the College Service Award in 2003. Martin chairs the Alumni Connections Committee of the Alumni Council and was vice chair of the Alumni Chapters Committee and co-leader of the Montgomery County Alumni Chapter. She is also a class reporter for the Class of 1986 and has volunteered as a member of multiple reunion and alumni engagement committees.

Additionally, Martin has been involved in her parish, St. Jude Catholic Church, where she serves as parish editor for “Our Parish Times,” an Archdiocese of Washington publication, and has coordinated major anniversary publications and events. She has also provided editorial work, committee service, and community event support for her children’s schools, St. Jude Regional Catholic School and the Connelly School of the Holy Child.

Tyler Wilson

Tyler Wilson '95, P'21, P'23

Tyler Wilson is president of The Kiva Group, which specializes in print communication, advertising, and design. 

The Kiva Group is a family business started by Wilson’s father, Frank. Tyler Wilson began working for the firm after graduating from the college in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Studies. He took it over following his father’s retirement in 2014. 

Currently, Wilson is an active volunteer at McDaniel, serving as a visitor to the McDaniel College Board of Trustees and a member of the athletics committee for the “Reaching New Heights: The Campaign for McDaniel College.” He is also on the Alumni Council and a member of the Alumni Connections Committee. 

Wilson was previously a parent visitor to McDaniel’s board and was involved with the Parent and Family Council when his children, Mia, who earned both a bachelor’s degree in Sociology in 2021 and a master’s degree in Human Resources Management in 2022, and Matthew, a 2023 alum with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, attended McDaniel.

As a student at McDaniel, Tyler Wilson was a member of the men’s soccer team and Gamma Beta Chi fraternity. His wife, Michele, who also earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the college in 1994, competed on the women’s swimming team.
