    How McDaniel expert Elly Engle teaches equity and sustainability through gardening

    Elly Engle, assistant professor of Environmental Studies, was recently recognized with the Early Career Award from the Association for Environmental Studies and Sciences. Engle discussed her down-to-earth approach to hands-on learning in the campus gardens, the Agrifood Program, Food Fellows, and plans for a local seed library.

    Two McDaniel alums are named Maryland Teachers of the Year

    Two County Teachers of the Year in Maryland are McDaniel alums: Erica McAndrew of Carroll County, who graduated with a bachelor’s in Sociology and a master’s in Elementary Education; and Jorden Lim of Long Reach High School, who graduated with a master’s in Curriculum and Instruction. Both are eligible to be chosen as the 2022 Maryland Teacher of the Year.

    McDaniel's Esther Prangley Rice Gallery showcases original works of art in conjunction with the remastered edition of Mark Wheatley and Marc Hempel’s acclaimed graphic novel “Breathtaker.” The exhibition runs Monday, Aug. 22-Saturday, Oct. 29, with an opening reception on Thursday, Aug. 25, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

    Common Ground on the Hill returns to McDaniel’s campus

    Since 1995, Common Ground on the Hill has hosted its Traditions Weeks of classes in the traditional arts, evening concerts, lectures, and art talks on campus at McDaniel College. Now, after a two-year hiatus, McDaniel is also the location for the 23rd annual Common Ground on the Hill Roots Music & Arts Festival being held Saturday, July 16.

    McDaniel College announces its Spring 2022 dean's list, recognizing full-time undergraduate students for outstanding academic achievement. Highest honors are earned for a semester grade point average of 3.90 or higher, high honors for a grade point average of 3.70-3.89, and honors for a 3.50-3.69 grade point average.

    Two faculty members earn the Nora Roberts Faculty Service Award and the Distinguished Scholars Award

    Vanessa Flora-Nakoski and Diane Williams have earned awards from the college — the 2022 Nora Roberts Faculty Service Award and the Distinguished Scholars Award, respectively — that will support their planned initiatives in research scholarship and student enrichment.
