Carroll County teachers who achieved National Board Certification through McDaniel celebrated

On Monday, Jan. 12, McDaniel celebrated 39 new National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs) who participated in the college's three-semester graduate course sequence. All of those enrolled currently teach in Carroll County Public Schools and accomplished a 77% achievement rate, above the 71% current pass rate for National Board Certification.

McDaniel celebrated 39 new National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs) during the Jan. 12 event.

A celebration and pinning ceremony was held on Monday, Jan. 12, for 39 new National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs) who participated in the college’s three-semester National Board Certification graduate course sequence.

All of those enrolled currently teach in Carroll County Public Schools and the candidates accomplished a 77% achievement rate, above the 71% current pass rate.

Designed to support current teachers achieve National Board Certification, the goal is to assist in increasing the number of teachers earning this nationally recognized advanced teaching credential through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS), the highest certification that a teacher can obtain. 

Both McDaniel College President Julia Jasken and Carroll County Public Schools Superintendent Cynthia McCabe provided brief remarks, recognizing the success of the program and participants. In addition, each teacher also participated in a special pinning ceremony.
