Student Faculty Research

Undergraduate students annually collaborate with their professors through McDaniel's donor-supported Student-Faculty Collaborative Summer Research Program.

McDaniel College hosts various camps and activities throughout the summer. Advance registration is required for most camps and events, unless otherwise noted.

2026 Summer Camps and Activities

Student-Faculty Collaborative Summer Research* 
Research begins in June with all projects completed by Friday, July 24 
Donor-supported program allows McDaniel students to annually collaborate with their professors on hands-on research opportunities in a variety of disciplines. This summer, over 60 students are involved in projects led by nearly 20 professors in Art, Biology, Chemistry, English, Environmental Studies, History, Kinesiology, Mathematics and Computer Science, Political Science, Psychology, and Social Work.

Bill Pilat’s Goalie School
Tuesday, June 16–Thursday, June 18
The Goalie School offers the most innovative curriculum for female lacrosse goalies from ages 8–18 who are wishing to improve their skills. Individual analysis, extensive videotaping of each goalie and new methods of teaching techniques and footwork are all elements of The Goalie School.

Point Guard College
Session 1: Tuesday, June 16–Saturday, June 20

For high school students entering grades 9–12, this basketball camp helps players develop the skills and habitsto become the smartest player on the floor. Sessions are limited to 80–120 players with a 12:1 player-to-coach ratio. 

Harmony College East
Thursday, June 18–Sunday, June 21
Some of the top vocal and performance coaches across the U.S. and Canada provide classes and coaching for individual singers, quartets as a group, choruses and also directors and prospective directors for those interested in Barbershop singing. 

Green Terror Men’s Soccer ID Clinic
Saturday, June 20, 9:30 a.m.–3 p.m.
High school players from ninth through 12th grades who are interested in pursuing collegiate soccer are given the opportunity to develop their skills, while being evaluated by McDaniel College’s men’s soccer coaching staff. Players will experience a typical technical and tactical training session.

Maryland Boys State
Sunday, June 21–Saturday, June 27
This program of the American Legion is for males who have completed their junior year of high school and have at least one semester remaining in their senior year. This nationally recognized, fully funded program in leadership, government, and political science includes numerous activities, including presentations by politicians and elected leaders and simulations.

All incoming freshmen at McDaniel College participate in two-day, one-night orientation sessions designed to kick off the students’ time at McDaniel and provide them the opportunity to get to know their classmates, campus, and Westminster. Incoming transfer students have the opportunity to participate in a one-day session (Wednesday, June 17, or Monday, July 20) and students selected into McDaniel’s Lumen Scholars Program, an honors program that incorporates experiential learning and civic engagement, along with interdisciplinary courses, arrive early for McDaniel Local #2 on Wednesday, June 24, for a special overnight Lumen Scholars orientation.

Nike Field Hockey Camp at McDaniel College
Monday, June 22–Wednesday, June 24
Directed by McDaniel Head Field Hockey Coach Blaine Donnelly, this camp provides the chance for players ages 11–18 at any skill level to master the fundamentals and develop proper mechanics through a mix of drills, games, and competitive play. Overnight and day camp options are available.

Soccer Academy (Adults)
Friday, June 26–Tuesday, June 30
Soccer Academy’s adult co-ed camp is open to individual players or groups who are aged 21 and over to have the opportunity to improve their playing skills or enhance their coaching abilities through technical and tactical training. All levels, fitness, and experience are welcome. Overnight and day camp options are available.

Juneteenth in Carroll
Saturday, June 27, 10 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Organized by Speak On It Act On It, McDaniel College hosts this Juneteenth celebration commemorating the end of slavery in the United States with live entertainment, music, food, and vendors. This event is free and open to the public.

Nike Girls Basketball Camp
Saturday, June 27–Monday, June 29
Directed by McDaniel Head Women’s Basketball Coach Christin Gowan, this complete skills camp for ages 8–17 helps players of all abilities develop athletically, refine fundamental basketball skills, and enhance their skill set. Players work on skill development drills, shooting technique, and footwork in a fun, focused environment. Overnight and day camp options are available. 

Nike Boys Lacrosse Camp at McDaniel College
Monday, June 29–Thursday, July 2
McDaniel Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach T.C. DiBartolo directs the camp, alongside his coaching staff, for players ages 9–18 to receive emphasis on fundamentals, position training, drills, and scrimmages. Overnight and day camp options are available.

Common Ground on the Hill Traditions Week
Sunday, July 5–Friday, July 10, 9 a.m.–5:30 p.m. each day, plus free evening events
Workshops in music, visual arts, dance, and more led by renowned instructors from around the world, plus evening concerts, gallery talks, keynote lectures, and late-night jams occur on campus at McDaniel College. Academic credit and scholarships are available. 

Summer College Readiness Program
Monday, July 6–Thursday, July 9
Hosted by McDaniel College’s Student Accessibility and Support Services (SASS), students with diagnosed disabilities who are entering their senior year of high school, or who have completed their senior year and are taking a gap year, experience what college is really like. Students spend three nights and four days on campus enrolled in a one-credit college course to assess their level of college readiness while being immersed in college-level academics and social activities.

Green Terror Men’s Soccer Camp 
Monday, July 6–Wednesday, July 8
McDaniel College’s men’s soccer coaching staff and players help players ages 10–18 develop their skills by participating in technical and tactical training sessions to experience competitive play. Overnight and day camp options are available.

Green Terror Wrestling Camp
Wednesday July 8–Friday July 10, 9 a.m.–3 p.m. each day 
This day camp for second through 12th graders is led by McDaniel College’s Wrestling Coaching staff.

National Kicking
Friday, July 10–Sunday, July 12
Open to all levels of kickers, punters, and long snappers, players will be in groups according to their present level of skill and experience and each player will receive individual attention. 

Nike Volleyball Camp at McDaniel College
Saturday, July 11–Monday, July 13
Led by McDaniel Women’s Head Volleyball Coach Jenn Feldmann, this camp for ages 12–18 is designed to help players refine their techniques, develop skills, and build confidence in a positive setting. Overnight and day camp options are available.

Nike Girls Lacrosse Camp
Monday, July 13- Wednesday, July 15
McDaniel Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach Kristin Ramey ’05 directs the camp for players ages 9–18 to receive expert instruction designed to elevate their skills and passion for lacrosse. Participants will engage in tailored drills, learn game strategies, and build enthusiasm in a supportive environment. Overnight and day camp options are available. 

Green Terror Baseball Camp
Monday, July 13–Friday, July 17, 9 a.m.–3 p.m. each day 
This day camp for second through eighth graders provides instruction on swing balance, throwing mechanics, baserunning, sliding, bunting, fielding, and hitting drills. 

Nike Girls Soccer Camp at McDaniel College 
Thursday, July 16–Sunday, July 19
Co-directed by McDaniel Associate Director of Athletics Sandy Lagana Bly and McDaniel Head Women’s Soccer Coach Michael Scott, the camp includes daily emphasis on fundamentals, position training, drills, and scrimmages to provide players ages 10–18 with the support to improve technically and tactically. Overnight and day camp options are available.

Green Terror Women’s Soccer ID Camp
Sunday, July 19, 1:30–6 p.m.
This clinic is designed for players ages 14–19 who are interested in pursuing collegiate soccer to develop their skills while experiencing a typical technical and tactical training session under the evaluation of McDaniel College’s women’s soccer coaching staff. 

Green Terror Youth Soccer Camp
Monday, July 20–Friday, July 24, 9 a.m.–3 p.m. each day (full day) or 9 a.m.–noon (half day)
Day camp for second through eighth graders with individual and small group instruction for players of all skill levels to provide an enjoyable and rewarding experience. 

Nike Football Skills Development Camp at McDaniel College
Monday, July 27–Thursday, July 30, 9 a.m.–3 p.m. each day
Led by McDaniel Head Football Coach Skyler Fultz ’11 and McDaniel College’s football coaching staff, this day camp for ages 8–13 provides instruction for players of all ability levels in a fun, supportive environment.
