McDaniel College President Roger Casey selected to serve on NAICU board.

McDaniel College President Roger N. Casey has been selected to the Board of Directors of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU), effective Feb. 1.

As an active leader in strategic planning for higher education on the national-level, he has been elected to a three-year term representing the association’s Region II, which includes colleges and universities in Maryland, as well as Delaware, District of Columbia, New Jersey and New York.

According to NAICU, independent higher education’s largest policy and advocacy group, board members set the association’s agenda on federal higher education policy; actively encourage support of association priorities and initiatives; and oversee the organization’s financial administration.

The ninth president of McDaniel College, President Casey also chairs the Board of Trustees for the Maryland Independent College and University Association (MICUA). In addition, he sits on the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) steering committee to assess the future of independent colleges and serves on the NAICU Student Financial Aid Committee.

A Phi Beta Kappan and first-generation college graduate, President Casey holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in English from Florida State University and a bachelor’s degree from Furman University.
