McDaniel College welcomes nearly 600 freshmen and new transfer students as part of the class of 2025.

New student orientation kicks off at move-in on Thursday, Aug. 19. View the complete New Student Orientation Guide.

Move-in traditions include:

  • All first-year students “ring in” the academic year at Old Main bell located in Memorial Plaza on Friday, Aug. 20, following the official welcome for the class of 2025 during Introduction Convocation.
  • On Saturday, Aug. 21, students participate in the Westminster Welcome where they are officially greeted by representatives from the City of Westminster, including local community partners, businesses, and restaurants. The students are led by McDaniel President Julia Jasken on a walk from McDaniel’s campus through Ward Memorial Arch to the Carroll County Public Library, Westminster Branch. President Jasken along with Westminster Mayor Mona Becker and Christina Kuntz, Branch Manager for the Carroll County Public Library, Westminster Branch, will provide brief remarks.

Sophomores, juniors and seniors return to campus on Saturday, Aug. 21, and Sunday, Aug. 22.

Classes at McDaniel begin Monday, Aug. 23.

McDaniel continues to follow guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Carroll County Health Department related to COVID-19. The college’s Return to the Hill (RTTH) webpage includes the latest campus information.

Facts about the class of 2025:

• 20 states represented, including Maryland, plus Washington, D.C.
-Other states are California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia

• 11 countries represented:
-Chad, El Salvador, Eritrea, Honduras, India, Nepal, Nigeria, Peru, South Korea, United Kingdom, United States

• Percentage of students of color: over 45 percent

• Over 40 percent are first-generation college students

• Record-breaking applicant pool: over 5,000
