Westminster High School senior receives inaugural Carroll County Scholars full-tuition scholarship

Representatives from McDaniel College surprised Westminster High School senior Jacob Noonan with the Carroll County Scholars full-tuition scholarship, valued at approximately $200,000 over four years. Noonan is the inaugural recipient of the scholarship, which is awarded to one Carroll County student who has participated in McDaniel's Carroll County Scholars program.

Jacob Noonan from Westminster High School was surprised with the inaugural Carroll County Scholars full-tuition scholarship to McDaniel.

Westminster High School senior Jacob Noonan was surprised by representatives from McDaniel College with the inaugural Carroll County Scholars full-tuition scholarship, covering all four years at McDaniel and valued at approximately $200,000.

Representatives included Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid Jill Centofanti, Admissions Counselor Sydney Lipsman, Jen Bubczyk '93, president of Hill Development Group LLC and an active supporter of the Carroll County Scholars program, and the Green Terror. 

Jacob Noonan, who has a 4.34 GPA at Westminster High School, is a member of the school’s Kiwanis Key Club and multiple honor societies, where he helps to tutor fellow students. Through his job at CVS, he has discovered an interest in biochemistry and wants to become a pharmacist. 

The Carroll County Scholars program is open to all high school students who live in Carroll County and provides free guidance and college search support. The program includes college readiness workshops and other programming to prepare students in identifying and successfully applying to college.

Since 1984, McDaniel has provided scholarships for Carroll County students to attend the college, funded largely by Carroll County businesses and McDaniel alumni. Eligible students in the Carroll County Scholars program who choose to enroll at McDaniel College after being admitted are guaranteed a $100,000 ($25,000 per year) scholarship to McDaniel with one student awarded a full-tuition scholarship upon completion of the program.
