Financial Support for Maryland Students

With more than 50% of McDaniel students coming from the state of Maryland, we strongly encourage you to maximize your financial aid options by applying for state grant opportunities.

Take advantage of these options:

1. Howard P. Rawlings Guaranteed Access (GA) Grant: A GA grant is for a graduating Maryland high school senior with a 2.5 GPA meeting certain income requirements. For 2023-24, the GA maximum award was $20,200. To receive the Guaranteed Access Grant, your FAFSA must be filed by March 1.* *Funds may not be available to award all eligible students.
2. Guaranteed Access Partnership Program (GAPP): As part of a partnership with the state, McDaniel will provide a matching grant to eligible Maryland students who receive a Guaranteed Access (GA) grant from the State and who enroll as a new undergraduate student.
3. The CollegeBound Urban Scholars Program (CUSP): CUSP provides financial support, internships, and networking experiences for Baltimore City public school students. Urban Scholars receive annual scholarships of up to $10,000 throughout four years of college and are chosen through a competitive process which includes an in-person interview.
4. Workforce Shortage Student Assistance Grant Program:The Workforce Shortage Student Assistance Grant (WSSAG) program is for students who plan on working in specific career/occupational programs upon graduation. Eligible fields include childcare, human services, teaching, nursing, physical and occupational therapy, social work, and public service.
5. 2+2 Transfer Scholarship:
   Established by the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC), the 2+2 Transfer Scholarship is awarded to Maryland community college students seeking to earn a bachelor’s degree. This scholarship is awarded in $2,000 amounts for science, teaching, engineering, computer science, mathematics, or nursing degrees, and $1,000 amounts for eligible students of all other types of study. Students awarded with the 2+2 transfer scholarship can renew for up to three years or six semesters of study; award recipients must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA at a Maryland-based institution to renew.
6. Part-Time Grant:
   Who may apply:Part-time, degree-seeking undergraduates and students dually enrolled in a Maryland high school and an institution of higher education. You and your parents (if you are a dependent student) must be Maryland residents. You must enroll at a two-year or four-year Maryland college or university as a part-time (3-11 credits per semester), degree-seeking undergraduate student. You must demonstrate financial need.
7. Educational Assistance Grant (EA):
   Who may apply: Current high school seniors and full-time, degree-seeking undergraduates. You and your parents (if you are a dependent student) must be Maryland residents. You must enroll at a two-year or four-year Maryland college or university* as a full-time (12+ credits per semester), degree seeking, undergraduate student. Audited courses cannot be used to reach the minimum credit hours required for full-time status. You must demonstrate financial need. All applicants are ranked by Expected Family Contribution (EFC). Your EFC is based on information reported on the FAFSA or MSFAA. Students with the lowest EFC are awarded first.
8. Senatorial Scholarships: Who may apply:current high school seniors and full-time and part-time, degree-seeking undergraduate and graduate students. Students attending a private career school may also apply. Students need to apply for Senatorial Scholarships through their state representative, NOT your federal representative.
9. Delegate Scholarships:

   A recipient of the Delegate Scholarship must enroll each semester as a degree seeking undergraduate or undergraduate student
