Green Terror Marching Band

The Green Terror Marching Band at McDaniel College is a college marching band in Westminster, Maryland, open to McDaniel students who want to perform, make friends, and bring Green Terror spirit to game day.

The program began in 2025 with the Green Terror Pep Band, which performs at McDaniel football games, basketball games, and campus events.

In fall 2027, the Green Terror Marching Band takes the field for the first time. Band members will perform at home football games throughout the fall, then keep playing with the Green Terror Pep Band during the winter and spring.

McDaniel Students Will Build a One-of-a-Kind College Marching Band

Students in the Green Terror Marching Band will build the ensemble themselves. They will learn and write music and contribute to the group’s identity and direction. Students are not just performers; they are actively shaping the ensemble.

Students will blend inspiration from pep bands, marching bands, and rock bands. Like the Green Terror, the marching band will have its own unique style. The band will include traditional brass, woodwinds, and percussion. Musicians will also be able to play guitar, bass, and keyboard.

McDaniel is known for its unique drive-in, bowl style stadium and vibrant tailgating. This means the Green Terror Marching Band can entertain football fans in a new way. The show will address all sides of the stadium instead of just the stadium seats, paying homage to the legendary McDaniel tailgate experience.

Six to eight performances are held each semester during the academic year.

Earn Academic Credit for Marching Band

As a co-curricular program, members of the Green Terror Marching Band are required to enroll in a two-credit course each fall and spring semester. Students will earn four credits over the course of the academic year. Students will write and arrange music, write formations for field performances, develop color guard choreography, and work together on uniform designs. Class time will also be used for practices once the music arrangements are written.
