Step by Step How to Apply to the Nursing (B.S.N.) Program

Admission consideration for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing is a multi-step process. In all cases, applicants will first be reviewed for admission to McDaniel College. Only those who are admitted to McDaniel will be considered for the Nursing program.

Apply to McDaniel College

Applicants to the B.S.N. program will first be reviewed for general admission to McDaniel College.

Nursing Major Screening

Those who are admitted to McDaniel will then be reviewed for the Nursing program. Competitive direct-entry Nursing candidates typically have a high school GPA of 3.5 or higher and grades of B or higher in their STEM coursework.

Nursing Program Admission Decision

Students will be notified if they have been admitted to the direct-entry Nursing program. Students admitted to McDaniel but not to the direct-entry Nursing program will be provided information about our Gated Entry option.

Direct Entry

For First Year Students

The Direct Entry pathway admits a small number of students into the Nursing track in our Health Sciences major as incoming first-year students.

Transfer Students

Students from other colleges or universities are eligible to apply as transfer students for admission directly to our B.S.N. program. Spots are limited for students who wish to transfer at the Junior level (directly into the clinical program).

Gated Entry

Students who may not be sure of their interest in pursuing nursing until they are already enrolled at McDaniel, or who are not admitted to the direct entry program, will have an opportunity to apply to the Nursing program via the Gated Entry pathway.
