McDaniel College hosts a drive-in light display that is synchronized to music throughout the holiday season at Kenneth R. Gill Stadium (enter campus from West Main Street). The Holiday Light Show runs Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, 5–9:30 p.m., from Thanksgiving, Nov. 22, through Dec. 30. The show is free and open to the public.
This approximate 15-minute show features nearly 5,000 red, green and multicolored lights and is choreographed to holiday music, including “The Polar Express”, “Baby Please Come Home” by U2, “Sleigh Ride” by the Boston Pops, as well as the Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s “Wizards in Winter.” Visitors can tune into 96.5 FM on their car radios to hear the music.
McDaniel College marked its 150th anniversary during the 2017–2018 academic year with special celebrations, including the College’s inaugural Holiday Light Show. More than 3,500 vehicles visited the show during its six-week run and McDaniel is continuing this holiday tradition with an all-new show for 2018.
The Holiday Light Show is presented by the WMC Heritage Society.
