    Two McDaniel alums are named Maryland Teachers of the Year

    Two County Teachers of the Year in Maryland are McDaniel alums: Erica McAndrew of Carroll County, who graduated with a bachelor’s in Sociology and a master’s in Elementary Education; and Jorden Lim of Long Reach High School, who graduated with a master’s in Curriculum and Instruction. Both are eligible to be chosen as the 2022 Maryland Teacher of the Year.

    Common Ground on the Hill returns to McDaniel’s campus

    Since 1995, Common Ground on the Hill has hosted its Traditions Weeks of classes in the traditional arts, evening concerts, lectures, and art talks on campus at McDaniel College. Now, after a two-year hiatus, McDaniel is also the location for the 23rd annual Common Ground on the Hill Roots Music & Arts Festival being held Saturday, July 16.

    New scholarship established for graduate students in Human Services Management

    Target Community & Educational Services, Inc., has established a new $25,000 scholarship in honor of McDaniel College’s 10th president, Dr. Julia Jasken. The Dr. Julia Jasken Endowed Scholarship is for a graduate student studying in McDaniel’s Human Services Management master’s degree program.

    Graduate Coordinator Mona Kerby honored as distinguished alumna 

    Mona Kerby, the L. Stanley Bowlsbey Endowed Chair at McDaniel College, was the recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award from Texas Woman's University.

    McDaniel College graduates the Class of 2022

    Among family and friends, 297 bachelor’s candidates crossed the stage to receive their degrees on May 21 during McDaniel College’s 152nd Commencement ceremony. Author and social entrepreneur Michelle Poler addressed the graduating class, encouraging them to face their fears and move toward happiness rather than comfort, and an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters was conferred on Jeff Rosenberg, former director of NPR Worldwide.

    Master’s students earn degrees at 152nd Commencement

    At McDaniel’s 2022 Graduate Commencement ceremony, 209 students celebrated the achievement of earning their master’s degrees, conferred from 19 programs. Keynote speaker and honorary Doctor of Journalism recipient Dan Rodricks, a long-time columnist for the Baltimore Sun, encouraged them to move forward with courageous values.

    McDaniel celebrates 152nd Commencement on Saturday, May 21

    McDaniel College celebrates its 152nd Commencement for the Class of 2022 on Saturday, May 21. The graduate ceremony begins at 10 a.m., followed by the undergraduate ceremony at 2 p.m. Both ceremonies take place in the college’s Gill Center with masks required for all attendees as a health and safety precaution. A live stream of both ceremonies will also be available online at www.mcdaniel.edu/commencement.

    Former Baltimore County Executive receives highest alumni honor

    Don Mohler, former Baltimore County Executive who spent his entire career in public service, received the Trustee Alumni Award, the highest alumni honor given at McDaniel. He earned both a bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 1972 and Master of Liberal Arts degree in 1977 from the college.

    McDaniel College announces Commencement speakers for the 2022 undergraduate and graduate ceremonies to be held on Saturday, May 21. Undergraduate Commencement speaker is author and social entrepreneur Michelle Poler, founder of the social movement Hello Fears and creator of the 100 Days Without Fear project, while Dan Rodricks, longtime columnist for The Baltimore Sun, will provide remarks during the graduate ceremony.
