    McDaniel College hosted the dedication of the newly named Coley Rice Lounge, formerly McDaniel Lounge, for former McDaniel College President Joan Develin Coley and her husband, M. Lee Rice '48, a trustee emeritus of the college.

    McDaniel College introduces new environmental center

    McDaniel College hosted the official unveiling of the McDaniel Environmental Center, an outdoor learning lab developed by students to engage in hands-on educational opportunities in agriculture, conservation, and environmental sciences, as well as community building. Additionally, McDaniel has received $2.3 million from the State of Maryland to fund educational environmental spaces and the college has introduced a new bachelor's degree in Food Studies this fall.

    Two faculty members earn the Nora Roberts Faculty Service Award and the Distinguished Scholars Award

    Vanessa Flora-Nakoski and Diane Williams have earned awards from the college — the 2022 Nora Roberts Faculty Service Award and the Distinguished Scholars Award, respectively — that will support their planned initiatives in research scholarship and student enrichment.

    Five professors have been named Charles A. Boehlke, Jr., Engaged Faculty Fellows in recognition of their exceptional commitment to their students. The Charles A. Boehlke, Jr., Engaged Faculty Fellows Award was established with a gift from Charles A. Boehlke, Jr., a 1978 alumnus of the college and current member of the McDaniel Board of Trustees.

    Psychology major earns Griswold-Zepp Award for mental health awareness and support project

    Sophomore Sydney Hinnant was awarded a Griswold-Zepp award from the college for a mental health awareness and support project. The Center for Experience and Opportunity (CEO) at McDaniel oversees the Griswold-Zepp Award, which can total up to $3,000 for proposed volunteer experiences of McDaniel students, addressing the needs of local, regional, national, or worldwide communities.
