    McDaniel College announces Fall 2021 dean's list

    McDaniel College announces its Fall 2021 dean's list, recognizing full-time undergraduate students for outstanding academic achievement. Highest honors are earned for a semester grade point average of 3.90 or higher, high honors for a grade point average of 3.70-3.89, and honors for a 3.50-3.69 grade point average.

    Gospel Choir director Shelley Ensor awarded Maryland State Arts Council award

    McDaniel College Gospel Choir director Shelley Ensor was awarded the Heritage Award from the Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC). The annual MSAC Heritage Awards recognize long-term achievement in the traditional arts and include grant funding for awardees to continue their efforts at preserving the heritage and traditions of their art.

    McDaniel College names new Vice President for Institutional Advancement

    McDaniel College has named David Sears as vice president for Institutional Advancement following a national search. Sears comes to McDaniel after serving as senior vice president of advancement and community engagement at Montgomery College in Rockville, Md. He begins his new role at McDaniel on Jan. 24, 2022.

    Major exhibition curated by Communication professor highlights the artistic and cultural significance of American Animation

    Robert Lemieux, associate professor of Communication and Cinema, is curator of "Icons of American Animation," which features over 150 pieces of original art representing more than 30 studios including Disney, Fleischer, Warner Bros., Hanna-Barbera, UPA, MGM, Pixar, and more. The exhibition runs Monday, Jan. 3-Saturday, March 12 at both McDaniel College’s Esther Prangley Rice Gallery and Carroll County Arts Council’s Tevis Gallery.

    President Julia Jasken elected to Carroll County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors

    The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce announced McDaniel College President Jasken among five new officers, along with a new Chair of the Board, elected during the Chamber Members Meeting on Oct. 7. Their appointments begin in 2022.

    McDaniel College students participate in Model European Union Simulation

    For the 20th year, McDaniel College students participated in the Model European Union Simulation. A delegation of 12 students represented both Ireland and the Netherlands and were accompanied to the conference in Washington, D.C., by Christianna N. Leahy, chair of the Political Science and International Studies department at McDaniel.

    McDaniel College celebrates the holiday season with the Boys & Girls Club of Westminster

    Nearly 180 Boys & Girls Club members attended McDaniel’s annual holiday party, which included arts and crafts activity stations, a special visit from Mrs. Claus and North Pole elves, along with a special gift.

    Alumni honored as 40 Under 40 professionals

    Several McDaniel alumni were recently named 40 Under 40 professionals for exceptional contributions to their professions and communities. Aaron Slaughter ’10 was nationally recognized as a 40 Under 40 Black CPA, and Ashley Day-Gibbs ’12 and Bryan Hamper ’06 were recognized by Baltimore Business Journal as 40 Under 40 Baltimore professionals. Baltimore Business Journal also recognized Joe Dominick, a partner in Gauge Digital Media, who attended McDaniel while launching his first business.

    McDaniel and Hood College establish accelerated Environmental Science degree

    McDaniel College students can now work concurrently towards a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies at McDaniel and master’s degree in Environmental Biology at Hood College.
