    Senior lands U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship

    Dalanda Diallo, who has both a Political Science major with a specialization in International Studies and a student-designed major in French Studies, was awarded a U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship to study Swahili this summer. Only 10 percent of applicants for the CLS are accepted for the scholarship.

    McDaniel selects students as Global Fellows

    McDaniel College selects 16 students into the college's Global Fellows program. The Global Fellows program is a three-year program that is designed to enhance students’ understanding of global issues, develop heightened intercultural competency and cultivate the skills and attitudes important to leading successful lives in a global context. Students earn a Global Fellow designation on their transcript upon completion of the program.

    McDaniel offers new majors in American Sign Language and International Business

    McDaniel recently launched two new majors offering expanded opportunities to students interested in American Sign Language (ASL) and International Business. Earlier in the year, an additional eight majors were added, including Actuarial Science, Applied Mathematics, Biochemistry, Biomedical Science, Criminal Justice, Health Sciences, Marketing, and Writing and Publishing.

    Senior Spanish and Political Science major named Fulbright finalist

    Ravi Patel, a senior at McDaniel College, has been named a Fulbright finalist for an English Teaching Assistant Award in Indonesia. Patel is a double major in Spanish and Political Science with a specialization in International Studies. He has traveled to 27 countries around the world, but there’s one place he has not reached yet.

    Three McDaniel juniors land prestigious Gilman scholarships to study abroad

    Supported by U.S. Department of State Gilman scholarships, Emem Akpan and Faith Young are studying abroad at McDaniel Europe, the college’s branch campus in Budapest, during spring semester and Priscilla Owusu heads to Dijon, France, in the summer to learn more about French culture and become more fluent in the language.

    Senior awarded Gilman scholarship to study abroad in Mexico

    A few short weeks after being named the League of United Latin American Citizens’ (LULAC) National Woman of the Year, senior Jasmin Chavez received a Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to study Spanish literature at the Benito Juárez Autonomous University of Oaxaca in Mexico.

    Samantha Wilson, a senior at McDaniel College, has been named a Fulbright finalist for an English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) in the West African nation of Côte d'Ivoire or Ivory Coast. Wilson of Sedro-Woolley, Wash., is a double major in French and Political Science with a specialization in International Studies.
