McDaniel College has been chosen as a recipient of the inaugural Empowering Women Award by The Daily Record for showing a strong commitment to elevating women in Maryland.

The Empowering Women Award winners will be honored on Wednesday, Oct. 25, at The Daily Record’s Women’s Leadership Summit, where McDaniel President Julia Jasken is speaking as part of a panel discussion on the “Confidence Code” and how women should embrace their authentic selves to become better leaders.

President Jasken, who serves on the board of directors for HERS National Women Leadership Network, was included among Maryland’s Top 100 Women and recognized as an Influential Marylander by The Daily Record. She was also named a 2023 Enterprising Women of Excellence award winner by the Baltimore Business Journal.

President Jasken led the creation of an advisory council for the McDaniel Women’s Leadership Network (MWLN), an exclusive group of women leaders focused on supporting women in pursuing their personal and professional goals, which launched in honor of Women’s History Month in March 2023.

Also in spring 2023, McDaniel was selected to the Executive Alliance’s Honor Roll among the colleges and universities in Maryland with the most representation by women on their boards and executive leadership teams for the second consecutive year.

Additionally, McDaniel continues to support women leaders in Carroll County through the Carroll County Women’s Conference. This second annual event takes place Friday, Oct. 13, with a portion of the proceeds supporting the McDaniel Women’s Leadership Network Scholarship. Several McDaniel representatives also serve on the conference steering committee.
