McDaniel Women's Leadership Network advisory council members Amanda Campbell '10 and Heather Yeung '05 along with Carolyn Salazar, associate vice president of development, joined President Jasken at the Enterprising Women event.

During a special ceremony hosted Aug. 3 by the Baltimore Business Journal, President Jasken received the 2023 Enterprising Women of Excellence award. The Baltimore Business Journal “looked for women who have excelled in their industry and have proven track records of success.”

President Jasken has also been named a 2023 Influential Marylander by The Daily Record. Those honored “have made significant impacts in their field and continue to be leaders in Maryland” and will officially be recognized on Sept. 21.

“The 2023 Influential Marylanders are, quite simply, inspirational. Their hard work and dedication to their fields have changed the landscape of Maryland through their extraordinary efforts,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, managing director of The Daily Record.

In addition, President Jasken, who earned her master’s degree from Northern Illinois University (NIU), has been selected to receive the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Distinguished Alumni Award from her alma mater in October. The award honors NIU alumni who have achieved prominence and made positive contributions to the college and its reputation for excellence.

Previously named a “Woman to Watch” by the Baltimore Business Journal, she has been included among Maryland’s Top 100 Women by The Daily Record and was named to their Power 30 Higher Education list of the most influential figures in higher education in the State of Maryland for both 2022 and 2023.

As the 10th president of McDaniel and the second woman in the college’s over 150-year history, President Jasken has dedicated nearly her entire professional life to higher education and most notably to McDaniel.

A champion of both the liberal arts and McDaniel’s student-centered mission, she has overseen many of the college’s strategic initiatives. She envisioned and designed the college’s signature McDaniel Commitment and, most recently, launched the college’s five-year strategic plan, “Reaching New Heights: McDaniel College Strategic Plan 2022-2027,” to further position McDaniel as an innovative liberal arts college focused on student achievement and professional success.

Widely respected nationally for her contributions to higher education, she is involved with HERS National Women Leadership Network and serves on the Board of Trustees of the Maryland Independent College and University Association (MICUA). She is also on the Board of Directors for Baltimore’s CollegeBound Foundation, as well as the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce.
